The Sougueta Cement Plant project is located near the town of Sougueta in Guinea. The project is being implemented by Diamond Cement Guinea, a subsidiary of the West African Cement group, a clinker and cement producer with operations throughout West Africa. Construction began in 2016 and includes a clinker plant, a grinding unit, two limestone quarries, and two waste rock dumps. The permit covers approximately 121 km² with confirmed presence of the Critically Endangered western chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus). To align with IFC Performance Standard 6, the project reached out to the ARRC Task Force in 2022 for planned extensions of its facilities. The ARRC Task Force discontinued the engagement after the lenders pulled out.
