Kong Solaire Project

The Kong Solar project involves the construction of a 50MWp photovoltaic power plant with a c. 500m transmission line. This development and its associated infrastructure are located close to the town of Kong in northern Côte d’Ivoire, c.15 km outside of Comoé National Park, a World Heritage Site. The project is owned 51% by InfraCo Africa Ltd, part of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG), and 49% by AfricaVia SAS (partially owned by Axian Energy Green Ltd). InfraCo Africa’s biodiversity risk screening flagged the potential presence of the Critically Endangered western chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus) in the area. As InfraCo Africa seeks to align with IFC PS6, the project reached out to the ARRC Task Force and signed our MoU in April 2024. The engagement was completed in 2026 after further surveys didn’t find signs of chimpanzee presence within the Project’s Area of Influence.
