HTML Transmission Line

This project involves the construction of a c.140 km long 225 kV high-voltage transmission line with the placement of 348 pylons between Manéah and Linsan (HTML) in Guinea, West Africa. This project is being developed by Electricité de Guinée with funding from the European Union and the Agence Française de Développement. This project aims to transport electricity generated from several current or planned hydroelectric projects. The transmission line will traverse several Classified Forests, and the presence of the Critically Endangered western chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus) has been recorded within the area of influence of the proposed alignment. The project reached out to the ARRC Task Force and signed our MoU in December 2024. Given the repeated requests to review documents and secure project updates, which went unanswered, and the fact that construction was starting when the project contacted us again—leaving no opportunity to fully apply the mitigation hierarchy—we decided to discontinue our engagement in August 2026.
