This project aims to upgrade the existing RN29 road linking the towns of Faranah and Dabola in Guinea, West Africa. It will involve enlarging and tarmacking 106 km of the current dirt road. This project is being developed by PROPAV Infraestructuras SL, and the lenders abide by IFC PS6. The project overlaps with two RAMSAR sites and is located near the western edge of the Upper Niger National Park. This park contains, among other biodiversity, a population of the Critically Endangered western chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus). The ARRC Task Force was contacted by the project in 2024. The Task Force is providing comments on their chimpanzee baseline surveys and mitigation options.
